Licensed therapist providing virtual therapy in Charleston, SC.

Hi there, I’m Mattie.

I am a licensed clinical social worker (LISW-CP, 17239) practicing in the Charleston, SC area. I graduated from the College of Charleston with a degree in Psychology and from Fordham University with a Masters in Clinical Social work, along with a specialization in trauma treatment. I have worked in therapeutic, forensic and programmatic settings for a decade, including the Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center and the Charleston-Dorchester Department of Mental Health.

I have helped clients of all ages, races and socioeconomic backgrounds navigate both crises and life’s day to day challenges. I have extensive experience and training in providing trauma treatment and trauma-informed care. I also utilize cognitive-behavioral approaches and like to emphasize embodiment. I have experience providing support to caregivers of children with problematic behaviors, helping them implement concrete interventions with their children while also emphasizing their own self care. I have a personal interest in working with women experiencing infertility, new moms and moms experiencing postpartum depression and anxiety.

In addition to providing therapy, I also enjoy providing consultation and training to caregivers, mental health professionals, and first responders on a variety of topics including, trauma-informed care, parenting and self care.

I love to float in a creek, cook, and, mostly, spend time with my husband, little boy and beagle, Duke.

‘‘ When I have been listened to and when I have been heard, I am able to re-perceive my world in a new way and to go on. It is astonishing how elements that seem insoluble become soluble when someone listens, how confusions that seem irremediable turn into relatively clear flowing streams when one is heard.”
